Labor Day Field Trip

Our annual Labor Day field trip was held on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007 from 1-4 PM. This trip was jointly sponsored by Madison Audubon Society and The Prairie Enthusiasts. A group of about 30 people attended. Despite the hot weather (over 90 F), everyone seemed to have a good time. The native grasses in the prairies and savannas were at their peak. Also, great displays of asters and goldenrods.

On request, group field trips can be organized at other times. For further information on field trips, send an email to

Mid-Summer Field Trip

On July 22, 2007 a mid-summer field trip at Pleasant Valley Conservancy as also held. This was very successful (about 20 participants). The prairies and savannas were in full summer color and despite the drought things looked pretty good. After the trip, the group enjoyed refreshments and conversation at our small field station (shack). Anyone who missed the trip is welcome to visit the Conservancy on their own. See the Public Trail Map link.
